Engine Shed has appointed Engagement Officer Georgie Burr to lead on its Diverse Workforce for the Future project. Georgie has previously worked with Sustrans, and has a strong background in community outreach and engagement.
In Engine Shed’s mission of stimulating long-term, sustainable and inclusive growth, strengthening the talent pool is critical. Georgie’s role will focus on targeting schools and young people, with an aim to inspire them to follow careers in the tech and digital sector.
The future generation of workers are key for the progression of the sector, and a diverse workforce is the best way to ensure that the sector will continue to grow and remain both productive and creative.
Engine Shed has already hosted nearly 2000 school students and over 180 teachers in a variety of activities, talks and visits, but will now be seeking more partners to deliver more value so that we are fully tapping into the rich diversity of the city-region’s young people.
Georgie commented: “Engine Shed is a really exciting place to work and the business’ that operate here are fascinating. There is so much potential here for the city and surrounding area and I’m looking forward to sharing this excitement with educators and young people.”
